we hiked and hiked and broke our backs and our feet to get back to the 2nd village (Vernazza) to eat dinner in an old castle on the hill....
let me explain something about cinque terre in general. it is full of steps and stairs...stairs up to the restaurants...stairs winding in and out of all the separate towns...steps made out of stone in the middle of the mountains.....these people have clearly never been introduced to the modern inventions targeted towards upward movement....
so we ate dinner in the castle....more pasta as usual...a day in italy would not be the same without the standard carb load required at every meal.
we ended up taking the train from Vernazza to Monterosso because it was a) too dark to hike...and b) our bodies could not take any more.
Me and puff chilled on a park bench with a bottle of wine and finally made it up the windy road to our little room where we passed out with the quickness.
